Central to my world are Black Women. My family is my world. I see my beautiful mixed family and know about the challenges Black Women face daily within the U.S. and the world.
I took up running consistently last year and ran over 500 miles over 175+ days in a row. The goal was simple, to get a little bit better each day. This lifestyle change wasn't easy but as I continue the goal, I looked towards organized running.
I completed my first-ever organized run at the SF Half Marathon in late July and crushed my goal of under 2 hours. I finished the race in 1 hour, 50 minutes and 12 seconds to be exact and felt great to run another 5+ after. That meant I wanted to continue the challenge.
As supporting Black Women is at the core of everything I do, I saw that Buy From a Black Woman was an official charity partner of the NYC Marathon and it was a sign for me to apply and run if I was accepted as part of the team.
With less than a month to go, I'm excited to be part of the team and couldn't support a better cause/organization during my run.
